Job Descriptions:
* Bring your knowledge and clinical expertise to the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services’ Central North Detention Centre, where you will use your specialized knowledge and skills to provide patient-centered mental health care to inmates. This permanent position will require working flexible hours, e.g. rotating shifts in a health care unit that provides 24 hours per day, 7 days per week service, including evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays. Please note that this competition may be used to fill future vacancies. Location: 1501 Fuller Ave., Penetanguishene.
* Along with being registered, in good standing, as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, you must be enrolled in, or have completed, a certificate in a mental health nursing program, and be able to work rotating shifts in a health care unit providing 24/7 service. In addition, you have in-depth knowledge of mental illness, mental health nursing theory, community mental health resources, evidence-based practices and current treatment options acquired through enrollment in/completion of a post-diploma/post-degree certificate program in mental health, and supplemented by continuing education in mental health/ psychiatry; and knowledge of mental health evidence-based, practices and current treatment options as well as experience completing comprehensive mental
health
assessments. You must also be able to interpret and apply relevant legislation (such as the Mental Health Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Personal Health Information Protection Act); elicit, interpret and evaluate information from patients and other sources and draw conclusions to develop treatment and care plans; evaluate patient responses to planned interventions and modify interventions in collaboration with the inter-professional team to achieve established inmate goals; as well as address emergency situations and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions.
* This position requires Enhanced Screening Checks: Vulnerable Service Sector Check, Local Police Record Check, Intelligence Check, and Credit Check.

Salary Range: $1,367.32 – $1,707.91 per week.
