High potential finance leader sought who can enjoy fast track progression.

ASDA enjoys the number two position in the UK grocery retail market and is continuing to see significant growth through both its store estate and on line. Growth has come organically as well as through acquisition following the Netto acquisition in 2011.

ASDA is wholly owned by Walmart albeit enjoys autonomy from its parent company. It is characterised by its dynamic, progressive and meritocratic culture. It is a relationship driven business where challenge to the status quo is welcomed and encouraged to ensure the business is continually improving. It is an open and innovative business and focussed on maximising both customer and colleague loyalty.

Finance is at the heart of the business, adding value throughout the decision making process and driving the change agenda. The function actively seeks to engage and challenge with the organisation to improve performance, lower costs and make things simpler. The Head of Planning & Analysis role represents a fabulous opportunity to join the company in a role which will involve engaging multiple stakeholders around the business (ASDA and Walmart).

The company seeks to appoint a high potential finance leader with a record of continual success and rapid progression in an equally dynamic retail or FMCG company. The candidate will initially take up the influential Head of FP&A role, leading a small team of finance professionals to deliver financial plans, forecasts and analytical insight for multiple stakeholders. Regular interaction and performance briefings to the CFO, Executive Committee and senior Walmart business stakeholders will be a common feature of the role. Having used this role to build a group-wide network, it is expected that the individual will subsequently enjoy rapid progression, with the support and sponsorship of a world class talent management programme.

The successful candidate will be a 2:1 graduate and qualified accountant with a background in a major blue chip business in the retail or FMCG space. They will demonstrate a record enhancing business performance in the areas for which they have had responsibility and rapid career progression through their current organisation. Our client is an equal opportunities employer.
