Lecturer in Systems Security Engineering

The Computing and Informatics Group in the School of Design, Engineering and Computing is looking to strengthen its research output and teaching through the appointment of a Lecturer in Computing.
You will make a significant contribution to strengthening our research capacity in the areas of Systems Security Engineering, Secure Software Engineering, Threat Analysis and Modelling; Vulnerability Scans and Analysis; Disaster Recovery Planning; Enterprise Assurance; Systems Security, Information Assurance and to complement existing expertise within the Computing and Informatics Group.
You will be expected to contribute towards teaching Systems Security Engineering, Red/Blue Team Testing, Penetration Testing, Computer Forensics, Cyber Security, Information Assurance and other programmes within the group as required. You will also be required to develop a portfolio of internationally excellent research and to participate in curriculum review and development, designing and developing new modules and supervising student projects at all levels.
To apply, you should have a PhD, (or be near the completion of a PhD), preferably in Systems Security Engineering, Secure Software Engineering; Computer Systems Security, Cyber Security, Information Security, Information Assurance, Penetration Testing, Computer Science or closely related discipline.
Relevant industrial experience will be an advantage and applicants should be able to demonstrate an excellence or the potential for excellence of initiating and conducting exciting research that challenges conventional thinking and approaches in computer systems security. In addition, you should have an internationally outstanding research profile with publications in high quality international journals or conference proceedings.

You will be qualified to Doctorate level or, alternatively be able to demonstrate the ability to create and disseminate knowledge through evidence of the development of professional practice at a senior level and the capability to convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 5 years from the date to appointment. For senior appointments, you should be able to demonstrate academic leadership in research and teaching.

The University’s National Centre for Post-Qualifiying Social Work (within the School of Health & Social Care) is looking for an enthusiastic and effective Senior Programmes and Business Officer. You will support the Director of the Centre and also lead a team of administrators who provide efficient and effective administration for post-qualification Social Work programmes on a daily basis.
You will have specific responsibilities for building and maintaining excellent relationships with our external client base and developing the team to provide service excellence in support of the Centre’s programmes.
You will have an understanding of the health and social care arena and be able to quickly build a good knowledge base of the Centre’s important activity. You will ideally have experience of providing high level administration support and will be familiar with academic cycles, including knowledge of providing costings for projects and proven financial acumen. You will also have experience of leading a team, as well as experience of working with data management systems. You must be able to build positive relationships with colleagues and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

Your experience of developing support for information literacy will enable you to work with colleagues on developments in this area.
