Starting Salary: Grade: 8, £38,522
The post holder will be part of a team of 8 staff supporting the server and database infrastructure of the University, with line management responsibility for a small team of system administrators. The systems group manage services which are used to support the core teaching, research and administrative missions of the University. The servers run on Linux and Windows platforms, supporting a range of software using Oracle and SQL*Server databases, to specialised applications and general purpose systems supporting file storage and web services. The post holder will play a key role in managing Oracle and Microsoft database servers, and play a fundamental part in IT systems projects ensuring that innovative solutions are sought in order to meet the strategic objectives of the University. The
post holder will have extensive experience of managing enterprise databases and successful IT projects within a large organisation operating on multi-platform technology.
Educated to Degree Standard with relevant work experience of working in a multi-platform environment, the post holder will lead the deployment and maintenance of all enterprise database systems.
