Designation: Senior Process Engineer (Planning)

Job Description

  • Develop and monitor KPI’s for Refining and Downstream divisions. Coordinate collection of monthly performance data and explanations for the variances. Prepare Refining and Downstream Balanced Scorecard presentation.
  • Evaluate refining operating performance by monitoring actual process unit rates and yields and conducting deviation analysis versus the monthly Definitive Operating Plan (DOP) and Business Plan.
  • Evaluate refinery profitability through gross and net margins; calculate actual margins, analyze actual product revenue and operational cost for the month and conduct comparative analysis versus plan to establish trends.
  • Coordinate with operations and process engineers to prepare the Refining budget for catalysts, chemicals, additives and Khuff Gas, monitor and explain the variances between budget and actual expenses.
  • Quantify economic impact of plant shutdowns, slowdowns and other lost profit opportunities to justify system or facilities upgrading.
  • Prepare Monthly Backcasting report, detailing LPO’s for the month, blending operations, margins variance analysis and any relevant operational issue and identify areas for improvement and increase profitability.
  • Track product quality to minimize giveaway while ensuring guaranteed specification is not compromised.
  • Determine overall Refining mass balance to monitor and ensure minimum mass loss.
  • Conduct economic evaluations in conjunction with process engineers to establish optimum process units’ shutdown maintenance strategies.
  • Support data collection for benchmarking surveys ( e.g Solomon Associates Survey data).

Desired Profile
Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Relevant experience in a petroleum refinery environment and/or in consulting service.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Proficient with linear programming tools (PIMS) and excellent LP modeling skills.
Proficient with Mass Balance Reconciliation tools.

Designation : Mechanical Project Engineer – GDN

Job Description
The Engineer works in the Oil Storage & Export Engineering section of the Plant Engineering Department that provides engineering and project engineering services to all process plants and a Gas Distribution Network (GDN) spread across Bahrain. The incumbent will be part of a dedicated team which will be responsible to handle all engineering project aspects of the GDN and day-to-day support and ad-hoc jobs.
Applicants must be Mechanical or Chemical Engineering graduates, preferably chartered engineers, have a minimum of 10 years of project design engineering experience in refining, petrochemical or oil & gas distribution industries, with a thorough knowledge and experience of application of industrial design standards and codes such as ASME, ANSI and API, TEMA etc., in the design, installation and trouble-shooting of gas distribution pipeline networks. Selected

candidates will be expected to:

  • Provide engineering assistance in the day-to-day operation of GDN, prepare purchase specifications for the replacement equipment, design major modifications and provide engineering support for adhoc jobs related to the GDN.
  • Trouble-shoot engineering problems and carry out design and design checks of the GDN.
  • Complete investigations of problems assigned by engineering services requests and provide cost estimates to operating department for the implementation of solutions.
  • Provide approved engineering drawings to carry out essential repairs, provide specifications to maintenance departments to purchase replacement equipment and provide engineering inputs for planning and execution of turn-around for inspection and process plants shutdowns.
  • Participate in Management Of Change (MOC) and HAZOP review teams to ensure safe working and operating conditions in the plant.
    The incumbent also carries out the preparation of feasibility studies, cost estimates, budget control and detailed engineering of multiple small to medium sized projects.

Desired Profile
B.Tech. / B.E. / B. Sc. Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering design in oil refinery, oil and gas or petrochemical industries (at least 5 years in high pressure gas system).
  • Have a wide theoretical and practical knowledge of engineering principals and general knowledge of construction methods.
  • Have a sound knowledge of process plants and off-sites PFDs and P&IDs relating to pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, and high pressure gas lines ..etc
  • Have a sound experience in the design and installation of high pressure gas lines, process plants design, feasibility studies, project management techniques, cost estimation and leading HAZOPs studies.
  • Have a good knowledge of recognized American and British design codes and standards, covering on-sites and off-sites petroleum and high pressure gas piping systems, pumps, heaters, heat exchangers, compressors, electrical hazardous area classifications and fabrication methods.
  • Have a broad knowledge of contract law, procedures and preparation of contracts generally.
  • Have a strong ability to write clear and concise reports, proposals, feasibility study reports and memorandums
