A fantastic opportunity has been created for a talented and resourceful communications officer to play a major role in enhancing the work of the 1994 Group of universities.
Working alongside the Communications Officer and the Executive Director, the Communications Officer (web and social media) will help develop our website and build our online and social media presence to support the work of the 1994 Group. This will include refreshing our website – both content and back-office, planning and developing a social media presence and wider communications activities including writing blogs, articles and speeches.
Employed by the University of Sussex, the post holder will be seconded to work for the 1994 Group at its Executive Office located at Senate House, London, WC1E 7HU.

An opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Assistant to work within the administrative team that supports the variety of activities related to computing; digital media; engineering; and product design within the School of Engineering and Informatics.
Students and staff work extensively with external people and organisations; and are increasingly involved in hosting events to showcase their capabilities; one student driven example is the annual Product Design Show (www.sussex.ac.uk/showcase/productdesign12).
It is anticipated that as well as standard tasks associated with the role of Clerical Assistant the successful applicant will support events organised by and for the School.

The School of Engineering and Informatics is investing for the future; a key element of that investment is in innovative people. We are in the process of advertising 15 posts in areas of strategic importance to the School. Two of these areas are: IC Engines for Low Carbon Vehicles; and Solid and Structural Mechanics.
Successful applicants will work within the Mechanical Engineering Research Group, a well-equipped and internationally leading group.
The Lecturer (049) position is aimed at someone who would relish the opportunity to work with people engaged in a range of research activities within the Department of Engineering and Design, and across the School. We anticipate those applying for this position will have a strong track record in solid mechanics research, possibly in multi-physics modelling; materials; or manufacturing. It is however, essential that applicants are experienced in the use of a commercially-available Finite Element Analysis code.
The School’s undergraduate students participate in the IMechE Formula Student competition and it is expected that those appointed will be involved significantly in this project .

The University of Sussex invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Fellows in extra-galactic astrophysics or cosmology in any area associated with our current research activities.
The Astronomy Centre has a powerful combination of theoretical, numerical and observational expertise carefully focussed on extragalactic science (see http://astronomy.sussex.ac.uk).
Many of our projects have been in development for years but are now ripe for exploitation. We are looking for a talented, creative and ambitious researcher to exploit these projects to the full.
We will be able to support a number of positions with durations of 3 months to 12 months. These are available to start as soon as possible with contracts ending before April 2014. In total we can support around 44 months of effort over all positions.
Education to PhD level, in Physics, Astronomy, or a related discipline, is an essential requirement. Experience within areas related to our research interests is highly desirable.
