City of Vernon Post Name: ESS On-Call Response Coordinator (On-Call)
ESS On-Call Response Coordinator (On-Call) Up to three (3) positions.

Compensation: $200/week honorarium (on-call)
Days/Hours: On-Call Please note: Short listed candidates will be required to submit to a Police Information Check. Reporting to the Emergency Program / Emergency Support Services (EP/ESS)
Duties: Coordinates ESS responses Levels 1- 3. Under the direction of the Emergency Program management, ensures that reception centres and/or group lodging facilities are activated and operating during the time of a disaster. Ensures an ESS response team is available to respond to Level 1 emergencies across the City as required. Assists in planning community ESS requirements.
Qualifications: Grade 12 Knowledge of the principles and practices of the BC Public Safety Lifeline, BC Emergency Management Systems (BCEMS), and Emergency Management BC. Ability to be “on-call,” and available 24/7 to attend and/or coordinate ESS responses during scheduled duty times. Completion of the following Emergency.
Management/ESS courses from the JIBC or similar institution: Introduction to Emergency Management. Introduction to ESS, Emergency Operations Center Level 1, Incident Command System 100. Ability to obtain ESS management courses such as Site Management. Group Lodging, Managing Walk-in Volunteers and ESS Leadership. Ability to obtain the ESS Director’s Course from the JIBC or similar institution. Currently or recently active in an ESS Program or a local authority ESS Team. Experience with the Police, Ambulance or Fire services. Participation in emergency/disaster response. Ability to work collaboratively with volunteer teams and support organizations. Ability to interact successfully and courteously with the public. Ability to respond in a timely and
calm
manner under duress and strain. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, supervisory, customer service, and team building skills. Ability to exercise judgment in problem solving. Demonstrated proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite of products. Ability to obtain and maintain an acceptable Police Information check. Ability to obtain and maintain a Vulnerable Sector check. A related combination of education and experience may be considered.
