Oxfam Polynesia Micronesia cluster of countries are key locations for the Pacific Islands Climate Change Collaboration, Influencing and Learning (PACCCIL) project is a four year (2018 – 2021) project funded for the first two years by Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP). 40% of this role will be committed to PACCCIL work. It aims at strengthening the influencing capacity of civil society actors and networks to ensure that action on climate change in the Pacific region is more effective, inclusive and collaborative. The project will work with key climate change action networks in Vanuatu and at the regional level, as well as facilitate the organizing and collective action of civil society actors in Solomon Islands and the Polynesia and Micronesia sub-regions against climate
change.

These include not only the effects of climate change – extreme weather events such as cyclones and flooding; changes in seasonal weather such as El Nino and droughts; rising sea levels, king tides, and salt water intrusion – but also their impacts and how PICs are able to prepare, adapt and respond to these. This includes: access to climate finance for those most vulnerable and at risk from climate change; mechanisms and support for people who need to migrate within and between countries; and coordination of climate change action sub-nationally, nationally and internationally, including how people and institutions in the region collaborate and learn together to address the wide-ranging implications of climate change.

Post Name:- Climate Finance Adviser

Job location:- Suva, Fiji

The position will lead the development of Oxfam’s climate finance programme in the Polynesia/Micronesia region and also provide technical advice and support to Oxfam regional and international climate finance/ change programs.

The position will also have responsibility for successfully starting up and implementing the PACCCIL project activities in Polynesia Micronesia, also providing support to the PACCCIL, Project Manager in terms of technical advice and expertise on climate finance and management of consultants.

Selection Criteria:-

The successful candidate will have the following:-

  •  A Masters or a Ph.D qualification in climate change, development studies, and finance is required. High level Degrees which specializes in Climate Finance will be an advantage.
  • At least five years’ experience and expertise in managing complex, multi-country, multi-partner project in a developing country context, preferably in climate change/finance projects.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in organizational representation and proven track record in developing and effectively managing, brokering and leveraging strategic relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in climate finance related research and work.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of financial management.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of a broad range of development, humanitarian and poverty issues, including of addressing key gender issues and gender analysis methods.
