We are now looking for key roles within our new Primary Care General Practice in Manaia

Post Name: Kaimanaaki
Permanent Full time 40 hours per week

The role:
Kaimanaaki are part of the wider healthcare team to support, coach and walk alongside whanau as they navigate the health and social services maze and seek to improve their health and independence.

You will assist whanau entering the GP Clinic by:

• participating as a core team member that builds off the strong and trusted relationship with whanau ensuring access is appropriate and that their requirements for seeking support is understood to ensure whanau are directed to the appropriate clinical component of the service using the clinic flow chart as a guide
• supporting whanau with their wider health and social needs, facilitating access to health, social and community services, and providing support and guidance where possible
• whilst undertaking the initial manaaki of those entering the service, you will undertake
  clinical observations and recordings
• supporting the Kaiareare in welcoming all who enter the service site and supporting the
  Clinic team in the administrative requirements of the Patient Management System and Whanau Pathway

What You Will Do:
Bridge the gap between clinician, whanau and other dedicated support by:

• Serving as the whanau’s liaison and advocate.
• Ensuring whanau lead, understand, and agree to their care plan.
• Providing cultural support

Connecting whanau with relevant resources and services.
Provide self-management support for whanau

Who You Are:
We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate individuals with experience of working alongside whanau, and are seen by service users as being a trusted face with strong empathy and mutual respect.

To be successful in this role you will have;

• A formal qualification is not required, however a qualification in Healthcare Assistant Training or alike, customer service or similar would be beneficial
• Ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures, in particular building rapport and strong professional relationships with Maori and vulnerable or disadvantaged populations.
• Culturally competent in Tikanga Maori
• Highly developed organisational skills that demonstrates responsibility for completion of tasks
• Strong Computer literacy with preference for a working knowledge of a Client Management System.

We also seek that you are Professional in your standard of presentation, knowledge, ethics and use of Best Practice Guidelines and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Please note all positions require successful candidates to have Full Driver Licences.
Proficiency with Ngaruahinetanga and Tikanga Maori is advantageous.
All new appointees will require background checks under the requirements of the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014.
