Bedfordshire Fire Post Name: Maintenance Technician

Location:– Based at Service Headquarters, Kempston

37 hours per week

Salary:- £19,819 rising to £21,693 per annum starting

The successful candidate will undertake a varied level of maintenance and building repairs of the Fire & Rescue Service Premises. The key responsibility of the post is to ensure that a high standard of maintenance is carried out at all times in liaison with Station Managers or as designated by the Site Supervisor and/or Property Manager. You will be required to carry out general plumbing repairs, minor alterations and replacements, decorating & minor upgrading using a wide range of materials and to carry out planned maintenance work to a 12 month rolling programme, as designated by the Property Manager.

In-depth experience of work in a similar nature is essential and a good standard of numeracy, IT literacy, written and oral communication is required. You will be qualified to a minimum of City & Guilds or equivalent e.g. NVQ2. You will be able to demonstrate a wide range of experience and good standard in various work activities, i.e. Plumbing, carpentry, decorating and tiling and have a proven ability to work effectively with minimum supervision or as part of a team and make a significant contribution to the attainment of joint goals.

You will demonstrate a sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation including the Manual Handling Regulations and will be committed to the monitoring of Health & Safety in the workplace.
