Post Name: Aerodrome Inspector

A challenging and fulfilling opportunity exists for a qualified and competent person to join the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji as on Aerodrome Inspector. As the Aerodrome Inspector, you will be playing an integral part in the growth and sustainability of a safe and secure aviation system for Fiji.

The Aerodrome Inspector (AI) is responsible for the safety oversight of aerodrome operations, including Ground Handling Service Providers (GHSP), helicopter landing sites (heliports and helipads), in Fiji, in compliance with relevant ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and Fiji legislation and Standards. The role is responsible for the implementation of the critical elements of the State’s Safety Oversight System and relevant safety practices and procedures to ensure a high level of industry safety.

The role reports to the Senior Aerodrome Inspector.

The person we seek must have at least:

Required Qualification:

• A degree In Civil Engineering or
• A Diploma In Civil Engineering and a Diploma in Airport Engineering or
• An Air Traffic Controller’s Licence or
• A Pilot’s Licence.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a civil aviation sub-discipline; airport planning/design, construction,
  maintenance, aerodrome operations, flight operations or air traffic control, or
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an aerodrome inspector in a civil aviation authority

• Minimum 3 years in supervisory/leadership role.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of established principles, practices and procedures relevant to aerodrome safety requirements Including the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s Annex 14, Annex 13 and Annex 19 SARPs and associated guidance material relating to the certification of aerodromes.
• Aviation Safety Management System training and experience; sound knowledge and training in Safety Management Systems, including experience in the conduct of risk assessments and compilation of safety cases. Experience in the development/implementation of SMS including preparation of SMS manuals will be considered an added advantage.
• Sound working knowledge of Fiji aviation regulatory requirements and standards.
• Good understanding of audit procedures and policies as well as internal controls
• Good understanding of the requirements to support a regulatory framework for safety oversight.
• Knowledge of aircraft operational characteristics, landing and take-off criteria and procedures
• Able to use the Microsoft Office suite of programmes as a minimum
