Days/Hours: Monday to Friday / 40 hours per week
Duties: Calibrates, maintains, installs and operates the electrical and instrumentation control equipment (24 volt DC), solid state, motors, lighting, low, medium and high voltage (115- 750 volts AC) power equipment, switchgear, transformers, emergency standby systems needed to supply, treat, and distribute potable water and to gather, treat and distribute the effluent for the City of Vernon. Calibrates, maintains, installs and operates Air tester equipment both fix mounted and portable. Installs, troubleshoots and modifies Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and associated equipment including Siemens PLCs, Profibus Communication and Win CC/SCADA operating systems. Maintains the City process alarm systems from
field
sites to the alarm dispatch sites. Provides technical design input and equipment specification recommendations for potable water, water reclamation and sanitation facilities. Inspects and provides quality assurance of new VWRC and other city installations. Prepares and modifies as built drawings for new and/or existing electrical/instrument control systems for potable water, water reclamation and sanitation facilities. Maintains the City process low, medium and high voltage electrical distribution equipment. Installs, upgrades and maintains as built drawings and keeps inventory of telemetry equipment for all SCADA sites. Provides maintenance support to operators and other field crews involved in operation and maintenance of City site facilities. Sets up and maintains the existing
Maintenance Work order computer program. Stand-by and/or weekend work may be required. Performs related work as required. All persons employed by the City of work as required. All persons employed by the City of Vernon will be required to assist the City in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties.
Required Education and Experience: Completion of Grade 12. or equivalent. Completion of an Electrical Trade Certificate. Must hold an FSR number with the BC Safety Authority to maintain annual electrical permits for City site. Completion of an Instrumentation Technology Diploma program. 8 years’ experience as a Journeyman Electrician or Instrument Technician programming systems such as Siemans PLC’s, and HMI’s. Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license. Preferred Education and Experience: Electrical trade related courses. Experience with CAD or other databases. Knowledge of power distribution systems.
