Job Description
The Commercial / Merchandising Director reports to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and he is responsible to develop, roll up and control the commercial & merchandising strategies and plans to the company which include ; products offer, merchandising, commercial strategies, pricing strategies, inventories management, space management and supplier relationship management.

The Commercial / Merchandising Director will be responsible for day to day management and development of business processes in its divisions to maximize sales, mix margin and supplier income. He is required to ensure the shoppers got what they want: Range – Prices-Quauty-Availability

The Commercial / Merchandising Director’s major areas of responsibility –

• Development of concepts in existing and new stores.
• Full profit and lose for food and non-food categories including fresh food and house brands To develop more house brands.
• To determine promotional and communication strategies and plans.
• To drive the supplier relationship management: sourcing, supplier definition and range definition.

Job Scopes

• Ensure the Company has the best products and margin mix that will maximize and deliver sales and gross profit objectives
• To grow sales per square feet, numbers of transaction and basket size.
• Prepare, propose and monitor annual divisional and category sales and GP budget through weekly / monthly / quarterly reviews, analyse the performance of categories / SKU and propose corrective and improvement plans.
• Determine, deploy and monitor team products’ assortment and core range by store.
• Analyse and manage top 80% sales and long tail of the assortment, including products rationalization.
• To monitor product’s availability at outlet level to maximize sales.
• Determine and monitor centralized pricing strategy and to study the competitions. Determine pianogram by category/sub-category and SKU to optimize sales per square feet, inventories and minimize condition of ‘out of stock’.
• To lead the team in supplier negotiations in order to get the best conditions and to monitor suppliers delivery performance (VDP)
• To propose and monitor supplier rationalization to improve efficiency and conditions.
• Develop a strategic promotion and communication plan that will drive traffic and sales at stores
• Liaise with Operations Department in organizing events at stores in line with local celebrations.

Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree or above in any discipline

Other Requirements:

• Candidates must have strong passion in retailing.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in merchandising, ideally with experience in fresh food in supermarket / hypermarket industries
• Must have hand on experience in business transformation, working in complex environment and project management.
• Computer literate and strong analytical, presentation, negotiation and leadership skills.
• Must have experience in developing people.

Salary Range: RM25,000
