FRFU The Fiji Rugby Football Union under the Fiji Rugby Football Union Trust Board (‘FRFUTB’), is based in the Nation’s capital of Suva and administers the sport of Rugby Union over the nation’s 14 provinces. The major responsibility of FRFU is to continuously develop and improve processes by enabling pathways from “grass root” level to elite, professional level and national level. FRFU endeavors to enhance players’ and officials’ competencies locally and internationally.

An exciting opportunity exists within the FRFU, and we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, agile and self-motivated for the following positions:

Post Name: Accountant

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for Accounts Payable and Receivable function in an efficient manner and ensuring compliance with all FRFU relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts and resolve discrepancies in Xero System.
  • Assist Manager Finance in preparation of monthly reports, and cash acquittal for competitions.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with donor rules, finance policies and local government regulations.
  • Assist in Cash Flow Management – Ensure the effective management of the FRFU budget by assisting in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis with the departmental and overall budgets.
  • Assist Manager Finance in performing financial analysis, variance analysis with an aim to improve the FRFU’s financial performance.
  • Updating and maintaining of cheque register and ensure that all cheques listed are posted Into Xero.
  • Ensure stocks inflows and outflows are recorded correctly.

Qualification, Knowledge and Skill Requirement:

The successful candidate should possess:

  • A Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • 3-4 years of working experience in an accounting and finance function is critical to success in the role.
  • Preferably a member of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles used by NGOS.
  • Computer/software literacy, including but not limited to cloud-based accounting systems, preferably Xero, Microsoft 365 etc.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Absolute integrity and trustworthiness
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, contractual, legal, and financial compliance requirements
  • Auditing experience with excellent problem solving skills would be desirable

Post Name: Senior Finance Officer

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Understand the organisation’s accounting system, codes and their application.
  • Ensure data entry is done in Xero in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile local Payables with statements before disbursement.
  • Prepare, disburse and settle overseas Vendors.
  • Invoice all Receivables and do collections in a timely manner as per contracts.
  • Ensure all sponsor contracts are kept up to date and recorded in finance records promptly.
  • Check Xero for accuracy and correctness of transactions posted.
  • Complete month end bank reconciliations report within deadlines.
  • Ensure timely and accurate cash disbursement for competitions.
  • Registering and updating vendor/supplier information in Xero regularly.
  • Allocate competition expenditures to correct competitions and post accordingly.

Key Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • A Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience, Knowledge of accounting principles used by NGOs.
  • Computer/software literacy, including but not limited to cloud-based accounting systems, preferably Xero, Microsoft 365 etc.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Absolute integrity and trustworthiness
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, contractual, legal, and financial compliance requirements
