Lax Kwalaams Post Name:- Band Administrator

Position Overview: Reporting to the Mayor and Council, the Band Administrator provides leadership to all Band employees and managers and is responsible for Implementing Mayor and Council’s vision and goals for the Band as a whole. The Band Administrator oversees all aspects of the day-to-day administration of Lax Kw’alaams Band and works with external partners and stakeholders to ensure opportunities for the community are pursued and maximized in the best possible way for the Band.

Formal Requirements:-

•  Post-secondary education in a related field such as Commerce. Management or Administration;
• Satisfactory criminal background check
• 3 – 5 years in a senior management role;
• Reside in Lax Kw’alaams or be willing to relocate to Lax Kw’alaams;
• Valid BC Driver’s License; and
• Satisfactory criminal background check

Post Name:- Housing Clerk

Position Overview: Reporting to the Housing Manager, the Housing Clerk performs all clerical tasks relating to the management and administration of housing programs and services in the community of Lax Kw’alaams. This is a full time, permanent, union position.

Formal Qualifications:-

•  Grade 12 Graduations;
• Satisfactory criminal record check;
• Valid BC Driver’s license; and
• Successful candidate must reside in Lax Kw’alaams, BC or be willing to relocate to Lax Kw’alaams, BC.

Post Name:- Recreation Manager

Position Overview: The Recreation Manager reports to the Assistant Band Administrator and is responsible to develop, schedule and coordinate the delivery of a comprehensive range of community recreation with a primary focus on enhancing the well-being and development of Tsimshian youth. This position is also responsible for supervising and administering the day to day operations of the Recreation Centre facility as well as planning, scheduling, and supervising the use of the swimming pool, gymnasium, fitness centre, and planning, scheduling, and participating in the delivery of community recreational events. This is a full time, non-union position.

Formal Qualifications:-

•  Successful completion of Grade 12 together with certificates or diplomas related to the coordination of youth programs or community sports and recreation programs and services, including Youth Worker Certificate, Recreational Programming or Instructor Training, Mentoring or Supervisory Skills Training, Leadership Courses all considered of benefit
• Satisfactory criminal background check and vulnerable sector check;
• 3 to 5 years of work experience acquired from coordinating youth programs or sports and recreation programs preferably acquired from working in First Nation community environments;
• First Aid certified, possessing Level l certification, a Red Cross Child Safe First Aid course certificate also of benefit;
• Possess a valid BC Class 5 Drivers License and vehicle or Class 4 License;
• Successful candidate must reside in Lax Kw’alaams, BC or be willing to relocate to Lax Kw’alaams, BC.

Lax Kwalaams Band seeking for Band Administrator and Housing Manager

Post Name:- Assistant Band Administrator

Position Overview:- The Assistant Band Administrator supports and assists the Band Administrator with carrying out the Mayor and Councils strategic mandates. The Assistant Band Administrator Is primarily responsible for the supervision and direction of all Band employees and for day to day administration of the Band’s affairs. This is a full time, non-union position.

Formal Qualifications:-

•  3- 5 years Office Management or Band Administration experience.
• Education: High school or equivalent along with relevant secondary education such as a Certificate or Diploma in Office Administration or related program being considered an asset
• Satisfactory Criminal Background Check
• Valid BC Drivers License
• Currently reside in Lax Kw’alaams, BC or be willing to relocate to Lax Kw’alaams. BC.

Post Name:- Housing Manager

Position Overview: The Housing Manager reports directly to the Band Administrator and is responsible for administering, managing, and delivering Lax Kw’alaams’ housing programs and services in the community of Lax Kw’alaams. This is a full time, non-union position.

Formal Qualifications

•  Successful completion of Grade 12;
• Journeyman Carpenter;
• Project Management experience;
• Valid Class 5 BC Drivers license with access to vehicle; and
• Satisfactory criminal background check; and
• Successful candidate must reside in Lax Kw’alaams. BC or be willing to relocate to Lax Kw’alaams. BC

Compensation & Benefits:-

Lax Kw’alaams Band offers a competitive Salary & Benefits compensation package. The Band Administration is a unionized workplace; however, management positions are non-union positions. These positions will be based on 5 days per week at 40 hours per week with an expectation that there may be evening/weekend work including travel.
