Post Name: Assistant Customs Officers

We’re looking for Assistant Customs Officers (Maritime) to work at the Port of Bluff on a fixed term contract basis until 31st December 2021.

You’ll be helping protect New Zealand’s maritime border by providing advice, assistance, support and direction to crew, passengers and all persons working in port operations in order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 entering Aotearoa via ports and marinas.

• Working across a 24/7 roster, monitoring ports via physical patrols, CCTV and other systems
• Interacting with vessel crew and passengers – questioning and identifying any non-compliance with the Maritime Order
• Informing and advising crew, passengers and port workers of the Maritime Border Order requirements should non-compliance be detected or suspected
• Issuing infringement notices where breaches of the Maritime Border Order have occurred
• Fostering cooperative relationships with stakeholders, agencies and colleagues to achieve Customs’ objectives

You’ll need to be physically fit and able to sit stand and walk around for long periods of time.
