Nga Manu Nature Reserve in Waikanae is a sanctuary for native birds, reptiles and invertebrates, and the largest remnant of coastal lowland swamp forest on the Kapiti Coast. Its primary objectives are the preservation and conservation of Aotearoa New Zealand native flora and fauna and being an accessible, safe and welcoming place for people to enjoy and learn about the natural world.

We are seeking up to three new Trustees to contribute, in a voluntary capacity, to the governance of the Nga Manu Trust. You’ll need experience in governance or leadership, strategic ability, a willingness to be actively involved when required, excellent relationship skills, and a passion for New Zealand’s natural environment.

Expertise in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred:

• Conservation and environmental science which is at the heart of our role as kaitiaki of fragile eco systems and the care of native species.
• Education particularly now as we build education and learning opportunities for older students.
• Tourism and marketing to support our plans to extend our reach within the region and nationally.

Underpinning these priorities is our need to build our business, to be financially sustainable which includes fundraising and to improve our connection to stakeholders and the diverse communities we serve. Existing Kapiti Coast networks would be highly valued in these roles.
