Norfolk Island is an external territory under the authority of the Commonwealth of Australia.
The Norfolk Island Regional Council formally and legally commenced operations from 1 July 2016 and is unique in that it provides a broad range of local government services to the community of Norfolk Island including telecommunications, the Liquor Bond, electricity generation and distribution, and an International Airport. Council is also contracted to provide 16 Commonwealth-funded State-type services.
Norfolk Island Regional Council seeks to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced senior executive with a proven record of accomplishment who can provide strong leadership and change management, working closely with staff to develop the organisation in support of Council’s strategic direction.
Reporting directly to the Mayor and Council, this role will require significant experience in implementing strategic and operational objectives in a timely and cost effective manner whilst leading innovation and change at a senior executive level. You will need to demonstrate genuine leadership qualities, strategic development and management skills, and an ability to create a capability based culture. Working closely with the Mayor and Council, your ability to engage with the community at a micro level and your strong understanding of the NSW Local Government Act 1993 in its application to Norfolk Island will be critical to your success in this role.
