PIACT Pacific Island Advisory Charitable Trust, Southland is hiring Family Resilience Worker
PIACT Pacific Island Advisory Charitable Trust Based at our purpose-built facility, is a health, educational, social and cultural service provider for the Pasifika communities in Invercargill, Gore and surrounding areas. Our services are cultural based, holistic and with emphasis on the wellbeing of the family. Following a rigorous application process, PIACT was awarded a Ministry of Social Services 5 year contract to address aspects of family violence. Having completed the co design phase, PIACT is now looking for the right person to lead the implementation of the approved programme for the next 4 years.
Family Resilience Worker Job Opening at PIACT Pacific Island Advisory Charitable Trust, Southland
Post Name: Pasifika Family Resilience Worker
Purpose
To fulfill the vision as outlined by the Ministry of Social Development to create strong, resilient communities where the fanau are supported to live violence free and to eliminate violence for the next generation.
Our programme will focus on 2 of the 5 identified POUs necessary to avoid and or overcome violence within the family:
- Strengthen cultural identity and family ties
- Strengthen social capability and community connection
What we require of the position
A Coordinator with the right attitude, skills and commitment to implement the programme through linking with current and developing services either through PIACT or Stakeholder services.
- Be motivated and outcome focused.
- A knowledge, understanding and or empathy for Pacific culture, has the experience and or willingness to engage with our Pasifika community
- Develop and maintain relationships in the Pacific and wider community
- A team player with good organization, communication and people skills
- Excellent coordination and facilitation skills
- Ability to engage with stressed families and those where violence is or could be an issue
- Ability in the use of information technology e.g. Microsoft, client management systems, Excel, websites and social media platforms
