PSNZ The Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand is the professional membership organization representing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians from all sectors of pharmacy practice in New Zealand. With over 3,000 members, PSNZ works to increase awareness of the critical role pharmacists and their teams play in medicines management and in the safe and quality use of medicines.
Guided by its vision to “shape the future of the pharmacy profession to achieve quality and equitable patient outcomes”, the Society works to enable greater connectivity, credibility, recognition and influence for its members. These efforts, along with the profession’s highly visible contributions during the pandemic and recent cyclone, have helped build trust and confidence in the profession’s breadth of capability.

The PSNZ Board is now seeking an excellent new Chief Executive with the vision and strategic agility to lead the organisation and support the sector’s ongoing evolution. Well-established credentials across strategy, stakeholder management, membership growth and benefits, sector advocacy, policy and service provision, complemented by commercial acumen will all be important markers of future success.
This is a great opportunity for a new Chief Executive to lead a Wellington-based team of around 20 staff that provides sector leadership and membership services with a focus on education and professional support. This individual will need to build and nurture relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including other health sector agencies and professional bodies, universities, government officials, ministers and the media.

The following blend of experience and capability is also sought:

• The capability to lead a national membership organization, while ensuring the best use of member resources
• Strategic agility to lead change and effectively position the profession for the future
• Clear understanding and application of Te Tiriti, with appreciation of a Maori world view
• Highly nuanced advocacy skills to manage the critical interface between the profession and government
• Capacity to work with colleagues to form and position policy initiatives
• Prior experience working to boards, with the ability to foster collaboration and build cohesion will be useful
• Experience in the healthcare industry will be an advantage, although not essential.
