The Role:
We are looking for a passionate person to provide advice and support around Council’s finance performance. You’ll need to have a good understanding of finance; however you don’t need to be a chartered accountant to succeed in this role.
This is a full-time permanent role based in Marton.
What you’ll do:
- Play a key part in the Annual Budgeting process
- Support, coach and train budget holders
- Prepare all financial information, and provide sound advice for the Annual Plan and Long Term Plan and the process to achieve this.
- Support budget holders with business case development
- Demonstrate active awareness of legislative changes and compliance – LGA, Public Finance Act and general standards.
What you will bring:
Essential:
- Competent in computer applications (especially those used in financial reporting and business intelligence)
- Ability to work methodically and efficiently and to set and meet appropriate standards and deadlines
Preferred, but not essential:
- Tertiary level Business or Accounting Qualification
- Experience with accounting at a mid/senior level within a medium size organization
